Titletown Flyers Win at Shelltrack Fat Bike Relay Race
On a unseasonally mild February day, four flyers (we grandfathered Schindel in) ventured to Manitowoc for fat bike relay race. Through teamwork, encouragement, and a some “cross-style” badgering, we each powered through five laps of the ice, mud and sand to finish the twenty in first place. PBR’s and brats were mid-race fuel. As it is a travelling trophy, we are now required to race again next year. First win of 2012 for the team – is this a trend? #winning

USA Cycling Cyclocross Nationals
The USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships were held in Madison the first week of January. Three Flyers accepted the challenge to race against the best ‘crossers in the nation.
When the race date was originally posted, the assumption was for a cold, snowy race course. With the mild winter, the course was much different. A few days before the race, the course was ice covered and virtually unrideable (if that is even possible in CX?). But, with some rising temps and the race organizing crew de-icing methods, it was instead a cool, muddy race.
Hauser and Steele threw elbows in the
Wednesday’s non-championship race (Cat 4′s aren’t allowed to race in any other race), while Davidson shouldered and spun his way in the male singlespeed race. (note: there were pro’s in both races – can you say steep competition!)
As next year CX Nationals are again in Madison, who else wants in?
