JingleCross Time and the Iceman report.

In reverse order from the title…..I begin with the Iceman report.  We loaded up about 21 riders and way too much gear and hit the road for the U.P. Hey!  Last year we took a trailer but decided this year we would not pull it and I think we are all in agreement that we maybe should have brought it!

We arrived after the trip thru the UP and our greasy spoon breakfast, a trip over the mighty Mac bridge, several snow squalls…..a very adventurous trip indeed!  After settling into the cabins we suited up for a pre-ride and did just that…..good times getting the last few miles reconned.

Race day we wake up to snowfall, about an inch of that white stuff was covering the ground which confirmed to us all…..it was ICEMAN time!

The race……a little longer course with decent conditions, slower times with the added miles but all in all I think we all had a blast!  A few podiums with “Discount Double Check” Joel taking an age class win…..fastest 37 year in the field!

After the race we found ourselves a tasty booofay (buffet if you are french?)…..all we could eat prime rib…and we did eat!

Beers by the fire and some well earned sleep and next thing we know we are headed back to Wisco with another successful Iceman trip in the books.

Next up is JingleCross for 4 of us…..love this weekend and the cross racing in Iowa City…..good crew and a lot of fun watching the pros race the same course!

Time to hit the dirt!

With the crazy warm weather, the camp is open early.  So we get to hit the dirt in March?Who doesn’t love Wisconsin weather…

First team dirt ride is Sunday @ 9am at the camp (3/25/12).  Meet at the trailhead.  Let’s fly those team colors with a nice turnout.

OK, maybe the camp doesn't have quite this elevation...

The first workdays at the camp are set for Saturday (3/31) and Sunday (4/1).  Let Shawn know if you can make one of the days .  The county has approved new trails, but we need to show that we will provide some team power.  If you haven’t participated before, it is just a few hours of good “cross training” and fun (but don’t be around Kelly as he won’t stop talking about race tactics…).   Families are welcome to help out.    We all ride the trails, and they wouldn’t exist without volunteer help, so let’s show our appreciation and Flyer spirit!

Spring Training Rides

Beginning March 10, we will begin training rides.  We will meet at He Nis Ra Park at 9am and usually break into a long ride (for those roadies) and a shorter ride (usually 25-40 miles).  Bring your road or CX bikes for the rides.  These will both Saturday and Sunday every weekend in March and possibly into April.  If the snow melts, maybe we’ll even see those Fat Bike guys jump on their skinnies for a ride!

Contact Shawn for questions.
